Islamic World v. Modern World

There is this constant separation between the modern world and  the what the Islamic world wants. In the novel there is way that the world around Marjane and her family try to stop the modern influence yet they always find ways to continue the way they want to be. When the Vail was first introduced it seemed to be some conflict till they all wore the vail and it showed their opposition and almost hid their modernism of them. They constantly hid and covered their lifestyles being an modern family. When they were returning from the party the guy stopped him and investigated that the dad drank, so they ran home and flushed all the alcohol out. To me Marjane and her family seems to continually seem to be hiding behind this social Vail. There seems to be this continuous collision between these two worlds and people are left to choose what is important. As a reader the theme seems to be that a person is stuck in in between two world and have to choose what is more important to them. Like many people have to do around of the world and Marjane did in the novel. As a reader even realized all the times I had to choose what was important between my worlds modern or religion .
