Finding Self in 20 Lines.

Chapter 1 begins to introduce the themes and motifs throughout Pedro Paramou. The first thing I noticed was that the phrase "I" or "I'm" was repeated 17 times in only 20 lines of literature. This first begins to introduce the first person v. third/ present v. past of the book. This also introduces the idea of self to the book. Also, the first chapter starts out of order. First, it starts at one moment in the past and then goes further back to another moment. The confusion in this introduces the idea in the book of the absence of a set time.

  1. Some interesting ideas (though awkwardly phrased). What is the novel saying about the notion of self/selfhood? How does the shifting narrative perspective contribute to this topic?
