Persepolis themes

One theme raised in Persepolis is the social injustice between class structures, that it exists naturally.  The novel raises this theme from page 6, "Because our maid did not eat with us...because my father had a cadillac" (Satrapi 6).  Our protagonist Marjane doesn't quite understand the structure presented here. She does not believe in class structures as she is fond with their maid.  Another point of social injustice is presented when the maid interacts with their neighbor.  The maid had lied to the guy that she was Marjane's sister.  She was scorned about when Marji's parents found out about the interaction, and told their neighbor about her true identity of a maid.  It is quite hypocritical what her parents did to their maid because they were involved in the social movement but then shows the injustice themselves.  Marjane cannot grasp this fact.  The hijabi that the women wear also shows structure.  It underlies women's identities. This is social injustice between genders.
